- Nursing Lab Specialist PT
Description
Reporting to the Director of Nursing and in collaboration with all nursing faculty, the Nursing Lab Specialist is responsible for supporting students through the organizing of learning experiences and operation of the nursing lab, including the evaluation of competencies of clinical skills that nursing students must demonstrate and maintain the lab in a safe, comfortable, inclusive, and working environment. In addition, this position will be responsible for maintaining electronic files for department and for students.
Prepare necessary equipment and supplies to correspond with scheduled lab activities. This includes the use of a variety of patient care equipment and supplies and use of computer-based instruction tools and programs.
Provide skills evaluation to determine competency and serve as a resource person for nursing students during skill practice and provide demonstration as needed.
Assist with the faculty and Director of Nursing with the preparation, and delivery of simulation activities with low and high-fidelity manikins that may require lifting of manikins and equipment.
Provide input for procuring nursing instructional equipment and materials necessary for the skills laboratory in conjunction with nursing faculty and the Director of Nursing.
Establish and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and educational materials used in the Nursing Lab. Ensure the availability of properly functioning equipment and supplies; Ensure all laboratory equipment is properly maintained and functioning in relation to manufacturer recommendations.
Communicate and collaborate with all faculty and Director of Nursing regarding student needs and progress in the lab.
Maintain nursing lab electronic records and documentation of skills completed by students and support materials to ensure student success.
Support and enforce the policies of the College and procedures of the nursing program, including the faculty expectations and course outcomes.
Requirements
Master’s Degree in Nursing required.
Two years experience in clinical nursing practice.
Experience working direct care in the clinical nursing practice within the last three years.
Simulation experience with set-up, running, and clean-up.
Ability to prepare and organize a wide variety of nursing laboratory equipment and demonstrate nursing procedures.
Current Illinois Nursing license.
Good communication skills.
Ability to multitask between students with a variety of learning styles and varying skills testing.
Ability to work independently and follow directions.
